Sponsorship Signing Ceremony Between Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Yaskawa Electric Corporation

On 1st October 2019, sponsorship signing ceremony of “Yaskawa Mechatro Lab” took place at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology in Ho Chi Minh City. This ceremony was organized by Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Yaskawa Electric Corporation to meet the increasing demand for practical training in robot programming for Vietnamese students in the field of Automation.

 

Attending this ceremony includes Mr. Kawaue - Head of Mission for Consulate General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh, Mr. Kumagae - Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Yaskawa Electric Corporation, Mr. Tanaka – General Director of Yaskawa Electric Vietnam, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Danh Thao - Vice President of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Hong Tuan - Dean of Faculty of Electrical Electronics Engineering, Yaskawa employees, business representatives in Ho Chi Minh City, and lecturers of the University.

In the sponsorship, Yaskawa donated six sets of demonstration machines to Yaskawa Mechatro Lab in Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology. Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Kumagae said “The demonstration machines, sponsored by Yaskawa, is designed to simulate the real factory production technologies in order to meet the technology in Industry 4.0. The purpose of this sponsorship is to enable students to acquire new technological knowledge about drive control and industrial robots. After graduation, they can use these experiences to apply in practice and help in the development of automation industry.” Mr. Kumagae also added that the automating production plants could solve the problems of rising labour cost and manpower shortage.

At the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr Nguyen Danh Thao thanked Yaskawa for the support given to the school. He also expressed that with both the effort of the University and Yaskawa, the Yaskawa Mechatro Lab will be useful robot control programming practice for the students. He also looks forward to have more joint projects from both sides, in creating practical benefits for the automation industry in Vietnam.

The Yaskawa Mechatro Lab focuses on developing robot control programming on automatic assembly lines, product classification systems, flexible production systems connected to the network. The Lab will conduct training, specializing in Automation, for about 500 students of the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering each year.
